DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

The word Doctrine is defined as the teachings of a body of principles in a system of beliefs. It would be easy to give a very brief synopsis of our biblical doctrine leaving the reader with many unanswered questions. It is our desire to be as transparent as possible about what we teach, believe, and hold sacred. Therefore we offer a more thorough examination of God’s doctrine. It is not intended nor should be considered an exhaustive treatment of biblical doctrine and beliefs. This will hopefully contain enough information to give the reader an understanding of what we believe at Christ Temple Church concerning God, Jesus, The Bible, and Man (his fall and redemption). It is our hope that the reader will take this examination of biblical principles as laid out here and further study God’s word until his doctrine is alive in your hearts and minds.

GOD

We believe in God the Almighty, the eternal Spirit. We believe he created all things, never tires. The human mind through exhaustive searching and study cannot understand the mind of God.

Isaiah 40:28 KJV Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.;
Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We believe that God is the only true and living God. He does not share his glory with any other god.

Jeremiah 10:10 KJV But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
Isaiah 43:10 KJV Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

THE NAME OF GOD

We believe that God has changed his name to suit the dispensational needs of his people. His present dispensational name is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 1:21 KJV And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.;
Luke 1:31 KJV And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

JESUS

We believe that Jesus is the maker of heaven and earth, creator of all things in heaven and in the Earth.

Colossians 1:16 KJV For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

We believe in Jesus Christ the only begotten of the Father. We further believe that Jesus is the father.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We believe he was fully man (human) and fully God (eternal spirit) manifested in the flesh.

I Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the one God incarnate.

II Corinthians 5:19 KJV To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.;
Colossians 2:9 KJV For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

Further we believe Jesus is the Father incarnate.

John 10:30 KJV I and my Father are one.;
John 14:9-10 KJV Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? (10) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

We believe that he was rejected by his own.

John 1:11 KJV He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

We believe that Jesus was crucified, died (his flesh).

Acts 2:23 KJV Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

We believe he rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven, was seen among men 40 days after his resurrection, and now is sitting on the right hand of God.

Matthew 28:6 KJV He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.;
John 20:17 KJV Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.;
Acts 1:3 KJV To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:;
Acts 7:55 KJV But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

We believe the Godliness of Jesus to be a mystery that is not uncovered by much study or education but by revelation of the Holy Ghost.

I Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.;
Matthew 16:15-17 KJV He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? (16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (17) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

HOLY GHOST

We believe in the Holy Ghost. It is a free gift from God and is not given to a select few but it is the fulfillment of the prophecy given to Joel.

Joel 2:28 KJV And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:;
Acts 2:16-18 KJV But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; (17) And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (18) And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

We believe that the Holy Ghost is a free gift from God and cannot be earned through works but is received through faith.

Romans 5:18 KJV Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.;
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

We believe that the Holy Ghost is not bestowed on a person because they believe in God but is given through faith in God.

Acts 19:2 KJV He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

We believe that the Spirit of God (Holy Ghost) is not an optional part of salvation but is required by God as part of the new birth experience. We believe without the Holy Ghost man cannot enter nor see the Kingdom of God.

John 3:3 KJV Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.;
John 3:5 KJV Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to men, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason.

II Timothy 3:15, 17 KJV And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (17) That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.;
I Peter 1:23-25 KJV Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. (24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: (25) But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.;
Hebrews 4:12 KJV For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

We believe in the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, known as the Bible, composed of sixty-six books and divided into two departments, Old and New Testaments.

II Timothy 3:16 KJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:;
II Peter 1:21 KJV For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

THE FALL AND REDEMPTION OF MAN

We believe the Bible is the full and complete revelation of the plan and history of redemption.

Man was created by God innocent.

Genesis 1:26-28 KJV And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

We believe that man, by voluntary transgression, fell, and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ.

Genesis 3:17 KJV And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Romans 5:12-15 KJV Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (13) (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (14) Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. (15) But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

We believe that man’s righteousness is unclean to God, that all men have sinned, and any man that says he has not sinned accuses God of being a liar.

Isaiah 64:6 KJV But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.;
Romans 3:23 KJV For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
I John 1:10 KJV If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

REPENTANCE AND REMISSION OF SINS

We believe the only condition on which God will accept a sinner is repentance from the heart for the sins which he as committed. John preached repentance, Jesus proclaimed it, and before his ascension, commanded that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, beginning at Jerusalem.

Psalms 51:17 KJV The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.;
Matthew 9:13b KJV for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.;
Luke 24:47 KJV And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.;
Acts 2:38 KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that through the preaching of repentance from sin, baptism in the name of Jesus, receiving the Holy Ghost, and through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; man is saved. This process is the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Titus 2:11 KJV For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,;
Titus 3:5-11 KJV Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; (7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (8) This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. (9) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. (10) A man that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject; (11) Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

EVIDENCES OF SALVATION

We believe the inward evidence to the believer of his/her salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit.

Romans 8:16 KJV The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

We believe the outward evidence to all men and the answer to a good conscience toward God is baptism in water, speaking in an unknown tongue as the spirit gives utterance, and a life of holiness.

John 3:5 KJV Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.;
I Peter 3:21 KJV The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:;
Acts 2:4 KJV And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.;
I Thessalonians 4:7 KJV For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.;
II Timothy 1:9 KJV Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,;
Hebrews 12:14 KJV Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

BAPTISM IN WATER

We believe that baptism by immersion should be administered in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

Acts 2:38 KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that baptism should be administered only to persons who have reached the age of understanding. We further believe that baptism is for all persons not just one nationality. A person that is being baptized should be taught the purpose of baptism before being baptized.

Matthew 28:19 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

We believe that under no condition, does the bible approve of the baptism of infants. Therefore, the ordinance of baptism by burial with Christ must be observed (as commanded in the Scriptures) by all that have repented of their sins. In doing so, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they have also been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.

Romans 6:4 KJV Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.;
I Peter 3:21 KJV The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

SAINTS

We believe that God calls us to be saints while we are alive and not after death.

Romans 1:7 KJV To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that saints should abstain from frivolous conversations, such as foolish talking and jesting, and from backbiting and tattling, or taking up a reproach against anyone, especially our brother.
Ephesians 5:4 KJV Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

We believe all saints should heed the injunction of the apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus.

Ephesians 4:1-3 KJV I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (3) Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We believe saints should know each other and bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

I Thessalonians 5:12-15 KJV And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; (13) And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. (14) Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. (15) See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

We believe saints should never seek vengeance for wrong done to them or others.

Romans 12:17-18 KJV Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. (18) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

We further believe all saints should treat each other with kindness, compassion, and forgivness.

Ephesians 4:32 KJV And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

We believe that as opportunity affords saints should be engaged in works of mercy; such as visiting the sick and imprisoned and the distressed, and all who may need and will accept our ministrations.
